The Ponente Wind Quintet is featured in concert Saturday, April 21st at 6 p.m., with music by composer Alan Hovhaness who lived and composed in Seattle much of his life, and by American composer Amy Beach from Boston. Also featured are works by Faure, Grainger, Ibert and Klughardt. The quintet was formed in 2016 by musicians from the Seattle Festival Orchestra. Ponente is notable for the variety of sound-colors brought out through their combination of instruments: Flute, clarinet, oboe, horn and basoon. A ticket to the concert also admits you to the museum to view the latest exhibitions, then you can enjoy Ponente’s 1-hour concert in an intimate setting surrounded by art, and be done early enough to dine out!
