This is the first solo exhibition of the work of Northwest photographer Yukio Morinaga (1888–1968). As a distinguished member of the Seattle Camera Club, Morinaga produced an important body of work that displays elements of both pictorialism and modernism.

We will be featuring thirty of his rare vintage prints from the 1920’s as well as some artifacts that include two walking sticks that he hand-carved while interned at the Minidoka Relocation Center during WWII.

Morinaga’s work was recently included in Making Waves: Japanese American Photography, 1920-1940 at the Japanese American National Museum, Los Angeles, CA. in 2016. Cascadia’s curator David F. Martin was one of the opening night speakers and panel participant. This show was voted one of the top ten best exhibitions in Los Angeles for 2016 by the Los Angeles Times.
