Music in the Museum | Brahms & Shostakovich Up-Close

December’s concert features Brahms’ exquisite Trio in A-minor and the bravura Shostakovich Cello Sonata.  Cascadia Art Museum continues to bring you some of the Northwest’s finest classical musicians:

Angelique Poteat (clarinet) has performed with the Seattle Symphony, Vancouver Symphony (BC), Yakima Symphony, Boise Philharmonic and Northwest Sinfonietta.  A leading classical composer, her music has been widely performed all over the US and in Australia, Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, Japan, Italy and Norway, including two commissions for the Seattle Symphony this season.

Erika Pierson (cello) has concertized in England, Germany, Spain, and in the United States, and has performed as featured soloist with orchestras in Berlin, Ann Arbor, and Everett. On the less-classical side of things, Erika has also performed with Mannheim Steamroller, Rod Stewart, the Walkmen, and Deltron 3030.

Annie Chang-Center (piano) is returning to Cascadia.  She has soloed with the San Francisco Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and the Cincinnati Symphony orchestras as a pianist.  A violist as well, she has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician on both instruments in England, Wales, France, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Taiwan and Hong Kong.  She was the assistant violist of the Phoenix Symphony for ten years.  Currently she is a member of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and performs regularly in Seattle.

Your ticket includes admission to the museum, so you can come early, tour the galleries, enjoy an hour of fine music in an intimate setting surrounded by art, and be done in time to dine out after.  The groundbreaking exhibit The Lavender Palette: Gay Culture and the Art of Washington State, will be open for viewing before and after the concert.
