No museum experience necessary and training is provided. What matters most is a genuine interest in our mission and a commitment to creating a welcoming space for everyone.
How to Become a Volunteer
Step 1: Tell us about yourself
Fill out a brief volunteer application telling us about your interests, availability, and what you’re hoping to get out of volunteering. We will also complete a background check.
Step 2: Meet with our team
We’ll reach out to schedule a short 30-minute conversation (in-person or virtual) to match you with the right role and answer any questions you have.
Step 3: Attend orientation & training
Once you’re matched to a role, we’ll schedule your New Volunteer Orientation and any role-specific training.
Step 4: Start volunteering
Welcome to the team! We’ll help you get started, and we’ll be here to support you along the way. We’ll get together for quarterly meetings as well.

Can students volunteer for school credit?
We welcome student volunteers. Talk to us about how we can structure a volunteer experience that works with your school’s requirements.
What skills are helpful for volunteers?
Passion for this museum’s mission is the most important skill. Beyond that, depending on the role: communication and interpersonal skills (galleries, docent, events), organizational skills (administrative), and comfort with public engagement. We provide training for everything else.
Do I need museum experience?
No. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. We provide training for every role. What matters is that you’re interested in our mission and willing to learn.
Will I work directly with artworks?
It depends on the role. We’ll discuss what your role involves during your conversation with our team.
