Pictorialism Photography Contest Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.We are excited to invite you to participate in a Pictorialism Photography Contest in conjunction with our exhibition, Shadows of a Fleeting World: Pictorial Photography and the Seattle Camera Club! The winning photograph will be shared on Cascadia’s social media accounts and the winner will receive a complimentary signed copy of the publication Shadows of a Fleeting World: Pictorial Photography and the Seattle Camera Club by David F. Martin. We invite you to submit a photograph inspired by the Seattle Camera Club and the Pictorialism movement of the late 19th and early 20th century, following the prompt: “What does the Northwest mean to you?” Pictorialism, the emerging use of photography as a fine arts medium, often featured romantic or idealized imagery, soft focus, and followed the compositional principles of traditional painting. Photographers often used labor-intensive darkroom processes to manipulate the image and produce unique prints. Today, digital photography technology offers photographers a new tool set to produce similarly compelling works. Contest Guidelines: Submission Prompt: “What does the Northwest mean to you?” Submission Deadline: 5:00 pm on Friday, July 30, 2026. We will accept digital submissions via this form in the following formats: PNG or JPEG with a minimum resolution of 72 dpi. Submissions must be original photographs by you, the artist. Digital post-processing by the artist is permitted; No AI generated material will be accepted. The winner will be announced via email by Friday, August 7th, 2026. Please email Sydney at marketing@cascadiaartmuseum.org with any questions. Thank you for participating and best of luck!
