Hofmeister was an important artist and instructor at Washington State University from 1947 – 1978. This exhibition features a selection of his paintings spanning five decades—from the 1940s to the 1990s. The works will be loaned from the artist’s personal studio collection.
While heavily influenced by his Montana roots, Hofmeister worked mostly from memory and imagination, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources including classical music, traveling and the unique landscape of the Palouse where he had his studio for over 50 years.
